Make Your Boston Luxury Homes Kitchen-Centric

February 25, 2012 |

As I always say, “kitchens sell the property!” Pricing right is key, but it’s usually the kitchen that ultimately sells the property. In many cases, this room will be the deciding factor for clients who buy condos in Boston. Generally, Boston luxury homes already have magnificent kitchens, so make sure your kitchen is up-to-date if you’re putting your home on the market.

Many of my clients are looking for open kitchens, or kitchen-centric floor plans, which are very much in demand now. People generally spend most of their time in the kitchen, so why not make it more accessible to the family room, the den, and the dining room? If you’re cooking in a kitchen-centric home, you experience more interaction with your guests and family, and feel less isolated from the entertainment. This is why it’s becoming more popular to open up the space, if your condos in Boston allow it.

Otherwise, work with the space available to you and make it functional, warm and updated. Spending a few dollars can go a long way. Condos in Boston with renovated kitchens are much more desirable and sell-able, regardless of price point. Everyone loves new kitchens, whether they cook or not. It’s an investment that you won’t regret.

Depending on your budget, it is amazing how little you need to spend to spruce up a kitchen and make it look brand new. In Boston luxury homes, hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent on kitchen remodeling projects, compared to much less investment in more moderately priced homes. Simply changing the cabinet doors, putting in new countertops, or updating appliances are great ways to increase property value long term.

Updating your kitchen is time and money well spent for future resale or even rental. It automatically puts your home in a totally different category and instantly adds value.
