Living on Historic Beacon Hill: One of Boston’s Best Neighborhoods

December 17, 2011 |

One of the more desirable neighborhoods in Boston is the historical Beacon Hill area. It’s the site of the golden-domed State House and home to many state legislators. Famous for its European style architecture, the area showcases beautifully maintained single family townhouses featuring ornate antique details. Many converted townhouses are now luxury Boston condos that line the narrow gas-lit streets.

It is a wonderful Boston neighborhood to consider if you’re relocating to the area, for it feels like a very friendly and welcoming neighborhood. The vibe of many Boston neighborhoods could be considered bustling, but Beacon Hill is more relaxed and refined. There are luxury Boston condos in all shapes and sizes. Large town houses generally cater to families with children, while smaller living spaces work well for professional singles or couples who don’t need many extra bedrooms. Not all of the houses have dedicated parking, but there are several garages nearby that can accommodate residents who need a parking space.

The quaint, sophisticated Charles Street serves as the commercial hub of Beacon Hill. It boasts unique specialty shops, antique stores, delicious neighborhood restaurants, and it’s where the locals can do their daily shopping without leaving the Hill. There are several private schools and playgrounds in the area that cater to families with small children. Beacon Hill residents are very active and organize various community events throughout the year, which makes living there fun and intimate.

For those working in the financial district, government offices, and medical centers, it’s only a short walking distance to work. Owning luxury Boston condos in Beacon Hill means you’re conveniently located and you don’t have to have a car to get around the city.

For the holidays, the Hill is extremely festive. On Halloween, some of the streets are closed to traffic for trick-or-treaters. Young and old are dressed in fabulous costumes, and the beautiful homes are all elaborately decorated. It is definitely worth a visit even if you don’t live there. The same holds true on other holidays, and the neighborhood is now richly decked out for Christmas. It’s one of the best Boston neighborhoods to call home.
